Cook Time: 50 minutes
Serves: 8 to 10 servings

2 cups granulated sugar
5 large beaten eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups cubed Italian bread
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup chopped pecans, optional
Raisins, optionals
For the sauce:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup whiskey
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2 pan.
Mix together granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in bow; add vanilla. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, mix and crumble together brown sugar, butter, pecans, raisins.
Pour bread mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from oven.
For the whiskey sauce:
Mix together the sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir together until the sugar is melted. Add the whiskey, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding. Serve warm or cold.
For those that do not want whiskey sauce here is a vanilla sauce:
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon flour
dash of salt
Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan and bring to a bowl. Cut down on low and stir until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and serve over bread pudding.
All I have to say is Holy Moly!

This and That...
Uneventful weekend at the G house. Rainy days spent sewing my with mom. Or learning to sew rather. Can I say that hey, ruffles are hard! I am making matching pj pants for me and the girls with cute little ruffles at the bottom! This is where the difficult ruffles comes into play. I shall continue to try though! This is what they make seam pickers for.
The girls spent the night with Nanna Saturday night which allowed Shane and I some time to hang out. It was a good night eating dinner with friends.
I made bread pudding with whiskey sauce, will post the recipe soon. I think I literally made myself sick by eating too much of this yummy stuff!
Got some deep thought posts going on in my head that I have not had time to put on paper yet. Got to work on that this week.
No more drama at my house with regards to eating things. Knock on wood. I am hoping we have a handle on that situation now.
Missing my girls and dear husband during the day and longing for the weekend already!
How was your weekend?

Quarter...Dime...Nickel...Penny...
UPDATE! Shane took Peanut to the dr and the xray was all clear! She apparantely passed the quarter without us realizing it! Yeah! Now if I could just get her to stop putting stuff in her mouth!
Shane is taking Peanut to the doctor today to have an xray to see if the quarter is still in her body...please Lord let the quarter be gone!
She is still putting things in her mouth though, obviously not deterred by spankings, serious talks between us, and threats.
This weekend I am cleaning out her room and she cannot have anything smaller than my elbow. I am terrified to leave her in room at night for fear that she will choke on something.
Needless to say, I say a lot of prayers and have a lot of serious talking when she goes to bed at night...
Quarter update to come later, after the doctors visit...
XOXO,
C

Case Quarter, Anyone?
It has long been documented on this blog how my 4 year old Peanut likes to eat things she is not supposed to. Eat, drink, or just in general put random small objects in her mouth. Some examples of past finds:
This past Thursday night was the culmination of the past few years. All of the times I spanked her for putting things in her mouth, all the times I said Don't put that in your mouth, all came rushing back to me.
She swallowed a QUARTER. Not a dime, penny, or nickel. She went for the big fella. A QUARTER. Mind you this child weighs maybe 35lbs at 4 years old. I can't believe she was capable of swallowing a QUARTER! (i will stop emphasizing QUARTER soon...I promise).
I heard her in her room crying and when I asked what was wrong she said, "I ate the money." After much chaos and discussion, we discovered she did indeed eat a QUARTER. This resulted in the much dreaded 10pm trip to the Childrens ER to make sure it wasn't hung in her esophagus somewhere. Lovely. It was determined by Xray that the quarter was definitely in her stomach and she should pass it within 7 days. That was last Thursday and we have not seen the quarter yet. You can only imagine the process of searching for the quarter. (see i told you i was stop emphasizing). This is not a pretty process at all and honestly we could have just missed the quarter because I am going to admit I am not searching as diligently as I would, say, for a diamond.
I have been bombarded by my wonderful husband and friends with quarter jokes, money jokes, etc. and have threatened their life on any more. Here are just a few...those who said them shall remain nameless but YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE...
This child gives me gray hair...
Love you Peanut!

- Wonder if she will poop two dimes and a nickel
- Can't say she isn't worth a nickel now
- Can you poop me a million bucks while you are at it?
- What are we having for lunch?... Quarters

On This Sunday...
today i pray...
- teach me to be the mother and wife you want me to be
- for patience
- to understand the pain i have been given and what i am to learn from it
- for healthy children (that do not eat money)
- for the words and courage to speak your truth, all the days of my life
- for my friends and family...that they may feel your love and live a life full of you

This and That...
i cannot believe it is already the 3rd week of August! where, oh where, does time go?!
school is going great in the G house. butter Bean seems to be really enjoying her teacher and last night's homework went very well. nobody threw a fit and fell in the floor crying (that would be me usually). i consider this success.
peanut has officially made the move to 4K, and a new classroom. she is doing great, however, i would like to request that the daycare put in an elevator so that I can make it up the two flights of stairs without having to stop and take several breaks! this has added at least 15 minutes to my morning! you think they will consider my request?
we are all enduring the 7 millionth day of oppressing heat here in AL. I swear, and I say this every year, I dont remember a summer this hot in a while. i think we are in our 40 something day of the high over 90. hello. summertime go away...fall would be nice! my cute cardigan wardrobe is yearing to come out.
hope all is going well in your world!
